Winged Box Kite


Description-  48" Tall, 48" Wide and Deep.  Four vertical 5/16" x 48" wood dowels with 1/3(app. 16") fabric border at top and bottom.  Box frame is app. 12"x 12". Four wings 48" long and 18" wide at app 1/3 of the length.  Two additional dowels are used to spread and support the wings.  Shipping tape is used to reinforce perimeter of each piece of fabric, to attach fabic to dowels and reinforce fabric at spreaders.  A string bridle is attached to the top and bottom of one of the vertical dowels.  A fabric tail may be needed.  It attaches to the bottom of the vertical dowel where the bridle is attached. 

Can also be made 36" size using 1/4" dowels.
                                        
Materials needed-
1.)   5/16" diameter x 48"  wood dowels- 6 each
2.)   fabric(newspaper, paper drop cloth, 2 mil plastic sheeting)
       2 pieces 16"x 48" and 4 pieces 18"x 48", scrape can be used for tail
3.)   1½"- 2" packaging tape(clear is preferable)
4.)   String (200-500 feet)

Tools needed-
1.)   Yard stick(2), tape measure, straight edge
2.)   Scissors
3.)   Paper hole punch or equivalent
4.)   Coping saw or hack saw
5.)   Marker
